Blasting
At Mt Arthur Coal, we have a blast management plan that sets out
the system under which we carry out blasting activities. Blasts
are designed to minimise their impact on the community. The permit
system in place at Mt Arthur Coal ensures all environmental factors are
considered prior to blasting, including weather conditions. Blast
monitors
placed on sites in
the surrounding community record ground vibration and airblast overpressure
results. The maximum limit for ground vibration is 10mm/s and for
airblast overpressure is 120dBL.
As part of our management plan, we regularly inform the community
about our blasting activities through weekly mail-outs outlining the blast
schedule, and here on our website.
