At Mt Arthur Coal, environment and community responsibilities are integral to the way we operate. From initial mine planning through to final site rehabilitation, our aim is to minimise the impact of our operations on the natural environment and nearby residents.

We are committed to BHP Billiton’s health, safety, environment and community Sustainable Development Policy, Standards and Guidelines (148kb) and these are reflected in our site Health, Safety, Environment and Community (HSEC) Policy (472kb).

Mt Arthur Coal is also committed to Enduring Value – the Australian Minerals Industry Framework for Sustainable Development. We have implemented a comprehensive Environmental Management System (EMS) that provides a framework to manage compliance with environmental constraints, as well as foster continual improvements in performance.

Mt Arthur Coal also has a comprehensive community engagement program in place to identify changing needs and issues important to local people. We value the role of community opinion in the future success of our business.
